She is trying to impress. But miserably failed. We are not interested in the Cosmetics of the laptop.

The only reason I didn't choose that beauty it's because of the ethernet port. I don't like carrying adapters around.

I add an external keyboard ( usb ) NOT wireless. Wireless transmission(s) can be intercepted.

Ctrl Fn is an abomination. Fn Ctrl is the way to go.

With due respect, I doubt your battery performance measurement.
I owned two version of X1C 7th (4K and 2K) screen. 4K lasts 3.5 - 4 hours under very light load (1 chrome with 3-5 tabs, Outlook client. Nothing else had been running).
2K version lasts only 5 hours. Remember, no gaming, no video editing.
Even FD (1080) version which by the way you can test yourself at local Costco, will last 6 - 7 hrs at best scenario. With such poor battery run time, I had to send both units back to Lenovo.
You are 100% correct on the keyboard. It is best in the league.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T450s and it’s awesome! I am thinking about upgrading to this mostly for a better screen and battery life. I’ll likely wait for the 8th gen model, though. The thing that always makes me want a Thinkpad is the keyboard. They are a pleasure to type on. My family is an Apple family and my parents both have MacBooks with the butterfly switches. I don’t like them at all and would never buy a MacBook like that. My parents both say the keyboards are “fine.” In my opinion, why settle for “fine” when you can have something that feels super nice? Just think about how much time you spend typing on your laptop. At least for me, it’s a very large percentage. Thinkpads for the win!

update your drivers, sometimes lenovo vantage misses updates, it's better if you go to their website and download them yourself.

competition? which of those have such a good keyboard and such a good build? None of them have that, so really they're price point is quite good with that in mind.

I'm still using a 3rd-gen X1 and the quality of the keyboard and the chassis is still amazing. And though it's from 2015, the design is still cool, too. When you hold and feel it closed, it's still like feeling having luxury hardware.
What I don't understand, why the competitors on the market are building so crappy keyboards with flat buttons. Why do they NOT create curved buttons so the fingers could press them with pleasure like every cheap ThinkPad already has? I installed many (sometimes more) expensive ultrabooks and their keyboards were mostly with dissapointing plane buttons.
For myself I will forever buy Carbons beacuase of the trackpoint, the great keayboard and not to forget: The silence. It was the first notebook for me where I smiled when the fan starts, so knew it's alive ;-) But this only happens in case of bigger updates or some vids.
I think I will buy the model of this vid maybe at the end of the year.

I was about to make a purchase of a top specs X1 carbon but the price was way higher than other good business laptop , it reaches to the level of gaming and performance laptops . the fantastic keyboard really does not justify the price tag. Lenovo has to really think about their pricing strategy

We already familiar with the placement FN key and Ctrl key on ThinkPad keyboard. But for first time ThinkPad user they might need to pay some time to get used to it.

I was going to get the MateBook but after the big political / national security or whatever dust up, I picked up the X1 carbon, dont even know what gen, it was 3 months ago, and I love this machine. The battery life is excellent....but then again Skippy here does not do video, graphics and rendering. So I might have more machine than i need. But the Lenovo runs circles around my beloved Surface Pro 4 in terms of cooling and battery life.

love the original Thinkpads keys better, but the keyboard layout on Thinkpads were always wonky. Even worse now that they cheap out with less keys and still shoving fn key in that corner, and no native key remapping.

personally would not buy these overpriced half-ass engineered Thinkpads.
